New procedures For The

 2014/15 Walk-Thru Registration:

Donlon Elementary is moving to partial online registration - no packet pickup required!

Along with most schools in the Pleasanton Unified School District (PUSD), Donlon Elementary is moving to a partial online registration for the 2014-2015 school year. This change will minimize paperwork and should streamline Donlon's walk-thru registration process on Monday, August 18.

Please note: There will be NO REGISTRATION PACKET PICKUP.

Instead, look for an official PUSD mailing in early August. The mailing will provide a unique online registration code and instructions for beginning your school registration online. Each student enrolled at Donlon will receive a separate letter and online registration code. Follow the directions included with your online registration code.

If you have not received your student's online registration code in the mail by August 15, please contact the Donlon front office (925.426.4220) for assistance.

Walk-thru registration - Monday, August 18

Because PUSD requires all students to verify their residency each year, Donlon Elementary will hold a walk-thru registration on August 18 from 8 am to 12 pm and 1:30 to 5pm in the Multipurpose Room.

You will need to bring your printed confirmation from your online registration, along with proof of residency, emergency card, and other required forms. Please see the PUSD website for acceptable proofs of residency.

End of the Year Letter From

PFC President Keri Rocha

Donlon Parent Community,

This year has gone so quickly; I cannot believe school will be out in two weeks. I want to wish our fifth graders and their parents good luck in middle school!

On behalf of the Donlon PFC, I would like to thank our parent community for their continued support this year. With your financial donations, the PFC was able to upgrade the Donlon campus with over $75,000 worth of materials! These items include:

  • $28,000 worth of technology upgrades including updated projectors in the 4th and 5th grade classrooms, science room and computer lab
  • Tables and umbrellas for the D-Pod
  • Quickwords workbooks for students
  • $13,000 worth of laptops
  • $3,000 per grade level for common core materials
  • $150 per classroom for extra graphics materials
  • Raz-Kids subscription for K-3 for the 14-15 school year
  • $6,000 of Scholastic material for teachers
  • Supplied every teacher with an external disk drive for their classroom computer

I also want to thank all our event chairs and volunteers who put in countless hours to make sure we had fun, diverse activities. This year was a busy one! We had Walk Thru Registration, staff luncheons, Read-A-Thon, school pictures, two book fairs, two ice cream socials, fall carnival, Red Ribbon Week, Halloween candy donation, movie night, Holiday gift shop, Disco bingo, Science fair, Fun Run, Teacher Appreciation Week, field day, 5th grade celebration and restaurant nights.

It takes lots of support to keep a PFC running. This includes communications through our new website and facebook page, box tops, yearbook, birthday board, Donlon directory, PPIE liaison, school supply kits, volunteer coordinator and room parent liaison. Thank you to the parents who took on those critical roles.

Finally, I want to thank the Donlon community for their support in transitioning to a PTA! This is an exciting time for our school as we make this change. Thank you to the parents and teachers who came to our organizational meeting and became charter members.

I hope you have a safe and relaxing summer and we will see you on August 18 for Walk Thru Registration.

Order School Supplies for 2014-2015

The school supply kit program is a service provided by the Donlon PFC. Having continuity with classroom supplies makes it easier for your child along with their teacher. It is also very easy for you to order! You simply fill out the Student Supply Kit form, attach your check and return it to your teacher or the administrative office. That's it! You're ready for the fall! No driving around or last minute hassle! The kits are pre-ordered and placed in your child's classroom prior to the first day of school. Getting your order before the end of this school year ensures a kit for your child. This also serves as a fundraiser as a small portion of your donation goes directly back into the classroom supply needs! The PFC would like to provide enough supplies for your child's entire classroom; your participation helps to achieve this goal. We appreciate your voluntary donation which supports our teachers by providing critical classroom supplies. This will ensure fair and equitable treatment of all our Donlon Cubs!

Thank YOU for making our Donlon Community the VERY BEST!

Donlon Elementary School’s computer lab is one of many technology enhancements the PFC has been managing.  In addition to purchasing Mac Mini’s for our teachers last year, the computer lab has been recently upgraded with new desktops and monitors.  These computers were well over 5 years old so it was apparent that we needed to upgrade them.  The benefit of obtaining newer computers in our lab will enable each student to obtain the necessary skills to learn more about multimedia and technological tools that will assist them in their educational experience.

Thanks to the many Donlon families who have supported our fundraising efforts so we could achieve this goal!
